Looking back to this term- Evaluation and Reflection

Image
The End This past term helped me unlock a lot of new skills and evolve as an artist. The project I was working on helped understand the importance of research, both in software and in depth of the topic, as well as push my self forward to try new things and experiment. I wanted to experiment further with more difficult programs like researching Aftereffects but I am happy about the results of my project. Now lets take a step back and go through my journey for this term. Hardware This term allowed me to use my camera more often and learn things about filmmaking like tracking shots, medium shots, close-ups and other techniques, as well as, camera movement like the pan shot, the tilt shot and zoom. These skills helped me a lot with my final project for this module. Furthermore, I learned how to use a tripod and that also helped me explore possible camera angles that I have never used in the past! Software The  most important aspect of this term was the skills I learned regarding...

Website Final review and UX testing

Image
Website An artist's website is the way he or she demonstrates his or her work to the public. My Website that was created in Wix.com helped me create a place where I would showcase my work and the projects I have been working on. To make sure that my website would be pleasing to see as a viewer I was answering the UX testing form so that I would not make any mistakes regarding user experience. Home Page According to the UX testing form, the home page should: 1.Be pleasing to look at 2. Clearly the student's progression route 3.Include links to Social Media 4. Have a navigation menu 5.The navigation bar should be clear and easy to use 6.The links of the Social Media should work correctly I made my best to include everything that my homepage needed, a background photograph, as well as a logo and a text that show my progression route. Furthermore, a menu bar on the top that is easy to navigate and a working Blogger icon that when the user clicks it, it open another window with my B...

The filming continues!

Image
Filming and Editing Continues The filming continues with the character and the man talking to each other. The original footage was filmed on a Leica Camera on a tripod and edited with iMovie to extract any unwanted footage. Stock music was added to the scene and the only editing that went into these clips was to mute the audio and connect them together. The reason I did this was to have less clips to edit in the final project file in Premiere Pro and to give time to focus on the character voice and movement After the filming of the footage I recorded the voice and movement of the character and added ii into the film. I Scaled the character to fit the seen as shown to the image above. I decreased the scale and increased the position of the character in the Y Axis. The reason I did this is because I did not want my character's feet outside the box area at that clip in the scene. Reflection: I found the editing process for the video difficult, because I had to operate on two programs...

Website editing- Creating my portfolio

Image
Website It is important that we showcased our work in a professional way and most importantly, with our own work. I went outside and took pictures that I could use as background in my website pages. I also wanted to personalise the background, depending on what the page is showcasing. For example, in the page with the animated character video I edited the character next to a Hollywood sign, to create a funny picture that was relevant to my continuation route and the project I am working on! I uploaded the images into my gallery and started the choosing process. To make my work presentable, I first need to add button on the film portfolio page that would lead the viewer to the page he or she clicked. First I open the add section of my tool bar on the left. I choose a button and I am dragging it onto the image The I link it with the page I wanted it to go and choose to stay in current window, so that the users device should not open another window to view the work (User Experience) ...

The filming begins!

Image
After the creation of the character I started filming the start of the video. This process required the my Leica camera and a tripod. For the editing that did not require the animated character I used the iMovie program that helped add some effects into my movie In the image above I trimmed the clip on the audio file which was the song "Around the world" by draft punk to create an effect of realism. I reduced the volume of the song to create the illusion of me taking off my headset. Furthermore, I reduced the background noice because it was interfering with the song and did not sound professional. Adding to that I also removed the shaking of the camera to make the footage more steady and then exported it as an mp4 file to import it into PremierePro. PremierePro Once I imported the film into Premiere Pro I started editing the character inside the real life footage. I imported the Character Animator file into the footage file that I used for the video. This image shows the cha...

Making of the final Character

Image
The character! Meet Danny, the character I created in photoshop and the hero of the story. The character was created to look a little like me. I added beauty marks on his face to resemble me and made him wear a red shirt, blue pants and aqua shoes. Do not bother him though because he is sleeping! Process I opened Character animator and downloaded a blank character. Then I started the process by editing the eyebrows. I achieved this by clicking on the asset panel to the left and accessing the eyebrows file. Then I adde a layer on the left eyebrow and deleted the existing one. I selected the rounded rectangle tool to create the shape of the eyebrows. Then I selected the dark brown colour on "fill" and then I added a custom width of 107 px with 26 px. To replicate this process I did the same thing for the right eyebrow. This creates a symmetry for the upper part of the character that helps with the rest of the editing on the head and face. In this image it is demonstrated how I...
