Research on famous animators

Image
Animation is a great form of media to express idea and gives the creator unlimited ways to express his ideas and work. There are certain artist that just took this opportunity to create their own stories and succeed. Matt Groening Matt Groening is a famous animator and writer that is behind great animated classic Tv series and movies. Famous cartoons that he created are The Simpsons, Futurama and the Netflix original Disenchantment. Source: IMDb This man did not like school and this is why he concentrated on his drawing skills. He started his career by drawing his comic strip named "Life in Hell". This is a perfect example on how someone who did not like school, succeeded in life and made money doing what he loved. The research I was doing in this man helped me think some ideas for the narrative of my story, where my character will have the persona of the Simpsons character, Bart. Another great animator and visual effects specialist is Ed Jones. This man worked behind a lot...

Hardware and Software post: introduction in Premiere Pro and setting up Aftereffects

Image
Hardware The hardware used in this project gave me the tools to create something unique. For the camera shots I used a Leica camera that was storing data into a 16GB SD card. I imported the content I wanted to use through an SD card to C cable adaptor and into my 13 inches Apple Mac Book Pro with 2GHZ and 8core processor. For steady shots I will be using a tripod so that I would avoid unsteady shots. For the creation of the character I was using Adobe Photoshop. The process of the character creation is showcased in this  post You can also see the testing phase in the Premiere Pro part of the project in this  post Before entering the After Effects part of the project I edited the project so that it was ready for the testing in the program I imported 3 new settings that would be included in the final project and I experimented with the scale of the character and his position. This is the character before the scale decrease This is the character after I scaled him up to fit...

Programming my work with the help of my pro forma

Image
Pro Forma My projects name is Danny in the 3D world and I wanted to create something special. From my research I have discovered the fact that many animators use motion tracking for their animations. Motion tracking technology works by placing dots into the face and body of the actor that allow the program to capture movement and replace it with that of the animated character's. Character animator uses this technique by capturing the movement of my face, eyebrows and eyes. The key points I want to explore from this research are the way these programs cooperate in order to create the movement for the character that I created in photoshop. I wanted to know how all the adobe programs can run together to add something into a project.Furthermore, I would like to explore the concept of motion capture and 3D animating as well as, animated acting and voice acting. Paragraph 1: Motion tracking is important in order to create an animation. Motion capture is the process of digitally record m...

Testing the animated character in Premiere Pro

Image
One of the greatest things about Adobes programs is how well the cooperate with one another and it is something that will help me achieve a good result for this project. After I created my character in photoshop and recorded him in Character animator I wanted to test how he would interact with the environment around him. After a little bit of experimenting I finally found a solution regarding the scale of the character in certain scenes. Sometimes in order for the character to fit perfectly into the scene I should change his scale and change his position in the X axis. At the left side corner of the screen is the panel with the videos I was using during this test run of my project. The character's movements are prerecorded and without background, thus making it easy to add the scene in Premiere Pro. Both videos were dragged into the timeline as new assets and then I made sure that they were working perfectly. In order for the effect to work, I clicked the asset which was responsib...

Project process: Getting ideas from the culture of anime

Image
Animated movies and TV shows have their own unique and individual style. They all fall under the same category but their own unique style of telling a story. I was fascinated by the way Japanese people create their animated Tv shows (Anime) and the designs of the characters which is not something difficult to create by hand. Pokemon I decided to approach and test this idea but drawing some images by hand on paper and creating a small anime sequence. This would help me improve my skills regarding storyboards which is a vital part of a story's production circle. Brock screaming: As you can see, his eyebrows have a slight tilt but his mouth is open, and the little lines suggest that he is screaming The eyebrows remain in a steady position but the mouth resembles a happy face and that is why the viewer can understand that the character is happy. The eyebrows are not straight but resemble a bridge and the mouth have a more oval shape. This type of face shows anxiety and terror. The ope...

The creation of the animated character.

Image
The first step in developing an animated character is to create one through Character animator and Photoshop. I started this process by having access to the blank character in Character Animator. Afterwards I imported the character in character animator to see the movement of the mouth, eyes and hands. The character that the program gave me was simple and was not interesting enough. That is why I imported the character in Photoshop to start making my character. I wanted the character to resemble me and that is why I tried to make him look exactly like me. Now it is time to edit the character a bit. First of all I wanted to make the characters eyebrows bigger to make them look like mine. Then I went back to character animator. I increased the sensitivity and the movement of the eyebrows so that they would move more and help the character being more expressive. Afterwards the skin colour: In order do that I needed to go and double click the closed eye layer, then go to colour overla...
