Editing the video for my major project

Image
I filmed my self asking question about media and the pandemic. Then I transferred the videos from my SD card using a type C adaptor to my Mac book. I collected all my videos on iMovie and I started editing the clips together. Putting this video together has proven a little challenge because I had a lot of content and I needed to stay in my time limit, so I had to cut a lot of the scenes out. I achieved that by splitting the clips and then deleting what I though was not necessary to include in the video First of all I selected the camera stabilisation feature so that the footage I included when I asked the questions was not shaky so the viewer could focus to the answers and the footage would look more professional and not tiring. Then I selected the music I had for this part of the video and I decreased its volume in order to make it act like background noise and not gain all the attention. I added text before the answer by drag and dropping them from the tool bar above To add vide...

Portrait practise

Image
A while ago I took a portrait picture for my blog that gave a lot of ideas for the portrait images I will be taking in the picture. On the 22nd of November on the afternoon I took some portraits near the Bristol Harbour I followed tips like taking a lot of pictures with some distance and a good background.  All the pictures were taken from an iPhone 11 Pro Max with the portrait mode on and natural lighting. Afterwards I tried to take other posses to see what angle is better for my professional picture on my website. Later on I changed the background in order to introduce some variety to my portrait practice. For my last portrait pictures I used the gallery editor on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ and cropped the picture. Furthermore, I added this picture which looks more professional on the "About me" page on my website Reflection: This exercise helped understand how to capture a professional image and learned from the tips we discussed during class on how to take more professional ...

Ideas for question to the participants of my documentary style video

Image
With the help of Milanote I started writing ideas about the question I will be asking the people that will participate in the video. There will be followup questions depending on the answers of the participants that will be displayed under the questions that each man will be asked to answer. Firstly, I established a variety of answers based on questions that differentiate greatly from one another. Lastly I added a few more questions for the documentary and I was ready to ask the volunteers. Reflection: Finding good questions for this project has proven more difficult than I anticipated. Finding questions that could help me create a balanced documentary was difficult but I narrowed it down to the ones above. What I could do better is that I could involve someone that his profession is to be involved in the pandemic, maybe someone that work in the medical industry but I could not find someone that had the time, given the fact that they are all very busy at the moment. Luckily enough I fo...

Project Development Storyboarder and shot ideas

Image
It is a vital factor for a good final project to have proper development. That is why I started developing my ideas using Wonder unit's Story boarder I selected the blank page option in order to experiment further with this new software and also to start creating a brainstorm of ideas. Firstly I had an idea on how to start my video. Using Story's boarder's camera and a human model I got the idea of showing a man with a bad posture due to the hours that he spends on his device in social media Adding props to the screen and moving the camera gave me a lot of ideas on how this scene could be executed in order to have a deeper impact to the viewer's mind. Then I added a new board and used the tools in order to see with what question I can start my documentary. I added a new human model to try and create a small scene so I could slowly start to build up my storyboard. I made the figure a female teen so it would be more realistic and could relate to the people helping me mak...

Research for major project: Covid and Social Media Pandemic

Image
Using Google's search engine "Chrome" I researched about the Covid19 pandemic and social media to get a wider idea of the two subjects together and how they interact with each other. Source:Oxford Academic In this article it is stated that social media had a huge impact on how people from around the world perceive the virus and how it affected values, like unity, by expressing wrong ideas about certain nationalities (e.g. Chinese people or people from Asian countries). Ideologies that were born through stereotypes and racism, spread across the globe like wildfire and with the help of Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc. This can have catastrophic effects on our society, and the reason for that is because the world is introduced to restrictions that differentiate from the ones it is used to. One example of that is flight restrictions, that can lead to a very significant loss of money, thus an unrecoverable economic crisis. This is only one of a few problems that arise from suc...

Portfolio page creation

Image
The portfolio page on my website is maybe one of the most essential pages. It must present my work to a high standard. Firstly, I changed the background in order for it to reflect upon my video. I added footage from my major project as a background just to see how the theme of my website can compliment the work shown on the video Afterwards because my major project will be a documentary style video I must add a way to show my video. Then I selected the first choice because I would upload the video via my computer and not social media like YouTube. In the end I added a paragraph talking about my video, a title for the project and the final video which I later checked that it was working. Reflection: It is important that all the attention of this page goes into the major project. That is why the video is on the centre of the page, so it could get the attention from the second the reader selects the page. I could improve the background image because it is currently a video and also i...

Research Class Exercise

Image
Questions in relation with my research experience: Name something you have researched in the past for art, design or media I have done research in the past for our sequential photography project that took place the first academic week during my first lessons for the digital arts module. This research post is uploaded on my blog with the name "Duane Michals photo Analysis" Link to the blog post: Blog Post Explain how you researched this I researched this particular artist using Google's search engine "Chrome" in order to access websites that contained information about the work of this artist on sequential photography. I accessed a website with the name Artnet news that was speaking about Duane's work and what the pictures represent, as long with hidden subtext of the imagery. What facts did you discover ? By working on this small project and doing my researched I was surprised to see some of the names that Duane Michal worked with, especially from the scien...
