The creation of the animated character.

The first step in developing an animated character is to create one through Character animator and Photoshop. I started this process by having access to the blank character in Character Animator. Afterwards I imported the character in character animator to see the movement of the mouth, eyes and hands.

The character that the program gave me was simple and was not interesting enough. That is why I imported the character in Photoshop to start making my character. I wanted the character to resemble me and that is why I tried to make him look exactly like me.

Now it is time to edit the character a bit. First of all I wanted to make the characters eyebrows bigger to make them look like mine.

Then I went back to character animator. I increased the sensitivity and the movement of the eyebrows so that they would move more and help the character being more expressive.

Afterwards the skin colour: In order do that I needed to go and double click the closed eye layer, then go to colour overlay and choose the colour I wanted for my character.

Then I copied the layer and pasted it to the lid eye layer and afterwards to background of the face too. This was the look of the character.

I changed the colour to be a little more cartoonish and changed the eyeball to a bigger size. I achieved that by deleting the left pupil and then making a new one using the elipse tool

I did the same thing with the other right eye pubil and then made them look the same by also centering them in the middle of the eyeball

Now the nose!
For the nose of the character I will be using the pen tool from the left hand side of the program. This tool helps people create unique shapes.
I deleted the replace layer and added a new one. Afterwards I will be using the pen tool.

I changed the pen to have the shape setting on and then I wanted the colour to be a darker version of this character's skin. Once I clicked on the custom colours panel a colour drop icon appeared. I clicked the characters face to see his exact skin colour and then dragged it to a darker tone.

Then I made a small triangle for the nose and changed the stroke to have 7px. I pinned three points in the characters face and then dragged the last point to the first to create the triangle shape. Furthermore, I used the moving tool to reposition the nose to the place I wanted her to be.

Now for the hair.
The hair will be created using the pen tool. I changed the stroke to 5.56px and then added the yellow colour to it. Afterwards very carefully, I drew some lines and created my character's hair piece.

In order to be sure that the hair piece was moving along the rest of my face I did some tests by tilting on both sides. Luckily the head was moving at the same speed of 60 fps and nothing looked to be off.

The body and arms was an easy part because I just has to copy and paste the layer from the previous colour changed when I was choosing the colour for the face.

Now my test character is ready and I am going to test him
