Making of the final Character

 The character!

Meet Danny, the character I created in photoshop and the hero of the story. The character was created to look a little like me. I added beauty marks on his face to resemble me and made him wear a red shirt, blue pants and aqua shoes. Do not bother him though because he is sleeping!

Process

I opened Character animator and downloaded a blank character. Then I started the process by editing the eyebrows. I achieved this by clicking on the asset panel to the left and accessing the eyebrows file. Then I adde a layer on the left eyebrow and deleted the existing one. I selected the rounded rectangle tool to create the shape of the eyebrows. Then I selected the dark brown colour on "fill" and then I added a custom width of 107 px with 26 px. To replicate this process I did the same thing for the right eyebrow. This creates a symmetry for the upper part of the character that helps with the rest of the editing on the head and face.

In this image it is demonstrated how I was using the rounded rectangle tool.

Afterwards I tested this change in character animator to make sure that my changes are being carried on into the program that would help me record and move the character.

After that, the colour. I selected the layer for the head which was located on the head background and opened the menu.

I clicked on colour overlay to open the menu for the colour and then I found the skin colour that looked kind like my own.

It was important to make sure that the colour that I chose would appear in the right so that I new that I did not change the colour of another layer.
I then proceeded to copy layer style, so that every layer that included the skin of the character would have the same colour.

Afterwards I deleted the eye pupils to replace them with my own. I achieved that by using the ellipse tool on the left tool bar. I made my eye pupils bigger so that the character has a more cute face. I selected shape in the pick tool mode and proceeded to create two eye pupils with 41 px width and 43 px in height.

I used the pen tool to add some hair to the character and a nose that would give him his final look on the head.

Lastly, the body.
I pasted the layer style on the arms, hands and neck. I also edited the clothes to give hime a look that would distinct him from the rest of the scene and make him stand out.

On the image below I removed the character animator logo to create a plain red shirt

The final look of the character is this.

Reflection: Working for this character helped me revise on how to use Adobes Photoshop and helped practise my skills with a variety of tools, as well as learn to work with new layers and adding things into my character by creating new layers in specific assets.
