Final Look on the website- Thoughts - Improvements
My website went through various variations. I changed the fonts the backgrounds and even the animations many times so I could finally find a good design that looked professional and reflect on my progression route.
1. Home page
My progression is route is film and television studies, so I though it would be appropriate to add the title "Film Portfolio" for my home page. Lets analyse the home page
First of all the title. I wanted my title to be unique but still be in harmony with the menu bar. The colours used on the bar and on the title are the same (Dark blue and white) but to make it more original I changed some of the title's colour to give it a more artistic look.
Afterwards the background. The background has proven to be a little challenge, that is because I could not find a good background so the letters could be easily written but also to be reflecting my continuation route. I downloaded some images related to filmmaking from unsplash and then uploaded them on my media.
For my home page I selected this images but edited it a little bit. First of all I wanted my backgrounds to tell a story. I wanted my home page, portfolio page and "About me" page to have old film and at the end the case of the film standing there. I thought it was a good way to express my feelings for this term, as well as reflection to my work, because, like a film, I started this term without knowledge for digital arts and through my progression I learned a lot of things.
The background originally was this image
Then I edited it a little. I added a filter and cropped the picture to cut the film case off. Then I flipped the picture to make it seen upside down.
The process of flipping the image
Choosing the right filter. I added the tropical filter so that the text was easier to read.
Then I cropped it to serve as the start of the small story.
2. Portfolio Page
The portfolio page should aim to the presentation of the video and that is why the video is on the centre of the screen as shown from the screenshot below.
The title uses the font "Trent" which I find great for videos titles because it has a unique touch to it. The description gives some small inside the the project and what thought went into the inspiration of it.
The background is of course a continuation to the previous page.
After that the final video was added into the page and also I checked that it was working.
3.About me page:
My about me page includes my biography, some educational background and my experience in the filmmaking. The titles are in the Arial Black Font and the paragraphs are centred in the middle. My professional portrait is under the biography to compliment it.
In the whole website the text in the paragraph is in Clarendon LT which has more formal look and is easier to read.
4.Contact page and feedback form:
The contact page is essential to maintain connection with the viewer and that is why I created this page.
The background is the end to the small story and it is also connected to the previous page which is in the "About Me" page. The contact page includes the contact form and my blogger account.
5. The website on mobile phone
I was pleased to see that my website looked very good on both PC and on mobile phones. This will make it easier for the readers of my website to use their smartphones and access my site.
Reflection: Making this website was a great experience and help develop vital skills on web design and website creation. Also I learned how to present my work on a professional level. In the future I could improve my design skills even further to create more original pages for my website.
