RESEARCH

Initial ideas:
For my advertisement project I wanted to create an awareness advert that reflects on a problem that modern movie companies are trying to solve. Also, I would like to make something that can be connected to my future studies.

I studied the way that most British commercials work and the style they use on their adverts. Interestingly enough, many of those adverts are showing scenes of people at home that aim to make the audience more familiar and bring a more heart-warming feel to their work. 


In consideration of the previous aspects of adverts I mentioned, I decided to make an awareness advert that focuses on creating stronger and leading female characters in big blockbuster movies. I asked my girlfriend to pose for me, because she also likes comic books and I wanted to photograph someone who is also inspired by superheroes.

There is a pattern on the colour usage on superheroes suits. Most of their clothes use bright colours to express hope and motivation. For my advert I intent to use a filter that makes colours brighter to depict that aspect of superheroes. Furthermore, the poses that are showcased in this picture are very heroic like and express confidence and power. That is something that we must show on our tagline as well. I thought of using sentences that are more emotional and voice power. 


Layout and Design: 
Because my idea is inspired from comic books, I decided to use more bright colours and a layout, as well a text and image, that reminds of a comic book. 

Attention and Target Audience:
To capture attention many advertising companies, use bigger words and interesting colours in their texts. That is a technique I intent to use because it is also appealing to my target audience which is comic book readers and superheroes’ fans. Also we can aim to capture the attention of female comic book readers to by advertising this strong female figure. The message to them is that females can be as strong as males and that is not weird for a woman to like superheroes.



Photograph ideas:

There are several ideas I have on how to execute the photographic part of the project.
Taking a picture of a woman’s fist holding a comic book
Taking a picture of woman doing a heroic pose holding a comic book
In both pictures I want the comic book to stand out because it symbolizes the type of media from which the confidence and inspiration of the photographic subject originates from. Also, both the fist and the heroic pose are characteristic images of a superhero and are familiar to the target audience viewer. The font, which in this case is a bedroom, is used to voice this familiarity and warm feeling that I talked about previously. Adding on that, using a bedroom as the font has a deeper meaning. It tells us that everyone, such as the typical girl next door, can have the ethics of a superhero.


Reflection:
Doing research for this project helped get familiar with the process of development and why research is an important step in the progression and the final result of the project.

  1. You mention you have studied commercials and style of adverts. Make sure you add this research to your blog with critical analysis of the advertisements you have looked at. Do not just state you have done research but add this to the blog with references/sources and critical commentary. You have very briefly discussed your target audience, but how will they be able to engage with the cause of your awareness advert? You have not included any sources of the images. Please sure you add this.

Good job on your search for your advert, the only thing I will like to add is that the link from the picture of the superheros you added it takes me to google picture, I will recomend to maybe change it so if your audence is interestes about this superheros they can found proper information about then instead of going to their pictures.
